About WealthFinance

Methodology, Independence & Ethics

How we research, what we refuse to do, and the standards our budgeting and consumer-rights content is held to.

Fintech Methodology

We build frameworks first, then test them against real cash-flow scenarios

Every budgeting rule or calculator on WealthFinance starts as a documented framework, gets modeled against several income and expense scenarios, and is only published once the underlying math has been checked independently of the author who wrote it.

  • Framework first — every tool starts as a written methodology, not a spreadsheet trick.
  • Scenario tested — modeled against multiple income bands before publishing.
  • Independently checked — math reviewed by someone other than the original author.

Editorial Independence

No product placements. No sponsored rankings.

WealthFinance does not accept payment to rank, recommend or favorably describe any financial institution or product. Nothing you read on this site was written or edited to satisfy an advertiser.

No Paid Placement

Rankings and comparisons are never sold.

Disclosed Assumptions

Every calculator states the rate it assumes.

Separation of Duties

Editorial and any commercial functions stay separate.

Source Hierarchy

  1. Primary regulators — CFPB, FDIC, Federal Reserve publications.
  2. Federal statute text — where a right or limit is codified in law.
  3. Peer-reviewed research — for behavioral and outcome claims.
  4. Institutional disclosures — used only to explain, never to rank.
Research Standards

We rank our sources before we rank anything else

Regulatory figures — insurance limits, liability caps, reporting rights — are sourced from the issuing federal body first. Where figures could plausibly have changed, we note that readers should confirm directly with the regulator before acting.

Ethics

We write for the reader's balance sheet, not their click

Personal finance content can be written to provoke anxiety or urgency because it performs well. We hold the opposite standard: content should reduce uncertainty, disclose its limits clearly, and never imply a guaranteed outcome from a calculator or framework.

  • No fear-based headlines or manufactured urgency.
  • No claims of guaranteed returns or outcomes.
  • Clear labeling of general guidance versus individualized advice.
